History of Diecast Toys
diecast
diecast is a generic term that describes any object made by
the process of die cutting, which involves pouring molten steel or plastic into a die while heating it to a temperature above 1800 degrees
Celsius. The term diecast refers to any type of figure
from a catalog or picture that is diecast. Die casting is done
by machine and can be done manually or by hand.
Diecast vehicles are collectibles, mostly plastic or metal
in construction, and are extremely popular
amongst toy collectors all over the world.
Diecast vehicles can be both real and replica and can be made up of almost any imaginable combination of
elements. Some examples of real diecast vehicles are Matchbox,
Fisher-Price, and Mattel’s Hot Wheels line.
Diecast vehicles from the Matchbox toy range include
the twenty-two year-old Grand Prix racer, the twenty-six year-old All Terrain Amphitheater,
and the twenty-two year-old Nascar RaceCar.
These vehicles have been well popularized through Matchbox Toys’
Matchbox Force Field series, which has been successful in introducing a whole new
audience into the sport of racing.
Many diecast toys are geared towards children, and the Matchbox cars and Hot Wheels cars are
especially popular among young boys. These toys get their popularity from
a number of factors, but one of the most important is
the original design by Philip Diehl, who is the designer of the Matchbox, Fisher-Price, and Hot Wheels lines.
The diecast cars are not only colorful and made from diecast metal rather
than plastic or foam, but they are also very well detailed and come in many
different forms. Matchbox, Fisher-Price, and Hot Wheels are great franchises that have remained around for decades and are
loved by children of all ages
